Before Visiting The Yards
When you bring scrap metal to our public yards, there’s a few tips you’ll need to know.
Preparation
Wear old clothes, expect to get a little dirty and safety is a top priority.
Ferrous vs. Non-Ferrous Metals
How can you tell ferrous and non-ferrous metals apart? It’s pretty easy, actually – a magnet is all you need to know the difference. Magnetic = Ferrous and Non-Magnetic = Non-Ferrous
How To Sort
To make your experience as seamless as possible, try to organize your scrap into two categories, ferrous and non-ferrous. Don’t worry, the sorting process will be explained in detail when you arrive at one of our public yards. The selling process is fast and easy, plus our helpful staff are there to guide you through the drop off.
- Arrive at yard and follow signs to guide you to the scale house
- Scale attendant will notify the yard inspector
- Before offloading can begin, yard inspector will request government issued I.D. – this is necessary in order to receive payment
- Yard inspector will identify all different grades of material you are selling and guide you to corresponding offloading areas within the yard
- Separate weights and pricing will be provided for all different commodities
- If you are selling a vehicle for scrap, you must provide proof of ownership upon payment.
